Intonation

1. 【下降調】 Falling Tone

• 平叙文： I am a ／student. ＼
• 感嘆文： What a ／beautiful＼ day!
• WH疑問文： What's the ／matter＼?
• 命令文： Come＼ here.
• 付加疑問文（念押し）： That's strange, ／isn't ＼it?

2. 【上昇調】 Rising Tone

• 一般疑問文： Are you ／ready／?
• 省略疑問文： You lost your／way／?
• 呼びかけ： Come＼on, ／John／. What's／wｒong＼?
• 婉曲表現： I／think＼ it's all ／right／.
• 付加疑問文（確認）： You are Mr. Bond, ／aren't you／?

3. 【混合型】

• 選択疑問文： Would you like／orange juice／or／apple juce＼?
• 列挙： I'd like a／cheese burger／, ／french fries／, and ／coffee＼ please.

4. 【練習問題】イントネーションに注意しながら、次の英文を朗読しなさい。

1. How do you do Mr. Bond. I'm so pleased to meet you.
2. Would you like vodka martini or Japanese sake?
3. My advice to you, Mr. Bond, is not to get into a car with a strange girl.
