On Thursday, October 17, four international students of OIT (from China, Indonesia, and Nepal) visited Sekime Higashi Elementary School in Osaka City and interacted with second and fifth grade students. This event has been held with OIT since 2022 as part of the school's international understanding education, and this year was the third time.
The international students first introduced themselves to the students and then divided into their respective classes to explore the school building and enjoy games in the auditorium. Afterwards, the students presented their home countries in the classrooms and answered the children's questions in detail. The children took quizzes on famous places and features of Japan, which each group had researched beforehand, to liven up the exchange event.
Anish LAMICHHANEMAGAR from Nepal (Freshman, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering), who participated in the event, commented: "I was surprised to see how energetic and curious the Japanese elementary school students were and how many questions they asked. There were many things that were different from elementary schools in my home country and I learned a lot. It was a lot of fun. He said. The children's innocent smiles seemed to soothe the international students, and it was a good opportunity for them to interact with Japanese children.
